UNIBASED SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE ACHIEVES
TRIPLE CROWN Both Products Ranked Number One in Their Market
Segments in the “TOP 20: Year-End Best in KLAS” Report and Placed in the
Prestigious Top 20 Overall
KLAS Enterprises, an independent healthcare IT vendor research firm,
published its annual “TOP 20: Year-End Best in KLAS” Report, announcing
that Unibased Systems Architecture, Inc. (USA) is positioned 1st as the
category leader in two different market solution categories, including
Enterprise Scheduling and Surgery Management. In addition, USA has been
ranked either first or second in the Top 20 BEST OVERALL Ranking for the
last four years, based on confidential surveys of healthcare executives
and technicians representing over 4,500 healthcare facilities. USA
products and services have been ranked within the top 10 of all 750
vendor-products evaluated annually, since year 2000.
KLAS Enterprises, founded in 1996, is the only research and consulting
firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of
healthcare's information technology (HIT) vendors. To ensure a candid
collection of performance data, KLAS uses a two-step approach, first
collecting a series of product/vendor evaluations covering more than 40
performance areas and then conducting in-depth, confidential interviews
with IT executives and department directors at acute care hospitals. The
report reflects the summary of healthcare HIT product performance data
collected over a 13-month period. A sample of the exceptional commentary
collected from USA clients are:
“…We use the best of breed approach to finding IT solutions. We
tried using a single vendor strategy but that fell apart because our
clinical staff is so demanding. USA is a prime example of why best of
breed works. They offer superior products and outstanding service. They
are willing to step up and do whatever it takes to interface with other
vendors.”
“We continue to see an increase in patient cases, but our revenue has
grown even more in the past couple of years as a result of implementing
this product. Last year, we had a 2 percent increase in patient cases,
with an 18-percent increase in revenue. The product does a good job of
capturing lost charges. We are also doing a better job with quality
assurance and turnover times.”
Cynthia Borders, Director of Client Installation and Support Services,
stated “USA has always recognized the importance of reliable software
and effectiveness of customer training. While it pleases the clients,
good training, understanding client workflow and, of course, software
that works, is also highly cost effective for the company. Everything
ties together and is efficient.”
Alan Ruf, USA’s Chief Science Officer, stated “My thoughts, related to
the various awards and national recognition we have been receiving, are
that it began with a few basic concepts evolving from research performed
several years ago. In a nutshell, we concluded that systems, to be
effective, must address the entire environment in which they are used.
The human interface, beyond basic ergonomics, is just one critical
component. If the environment is hectic, full of distractions, the
software designer must be aware of the human’s short term memory issues.
If this is the case, response time is a critical testing component,
which implies that the systems must be completely exercised prior to
release. USA is probably more advanced than most firms in employing this
type of thinking.”
