Alan J. Ruf
Senior Vice President and Chief Science Officer
Mr. Ruf is responsible for Unibased Systems Architecture's ongoing advanced design and development. Mr. Ruf has extensive background in computer systems software, software development tools, database design and computer hardware design.
Prior to joining Unibased Systems in 1989 as part of the Graycross merger, Mr. Ruf worked for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. In that position he was involved in a large-scale R&D project, which investigated the tools, methods, and economics infrastructure required for computer systems of the future. Prior to this work, Mr. Ruf developed a wide range of systems, from microprocessor based monitoring, through tightly coupled minicomputer front-ends, sophisticated large mainframe systems software, and several database and software tools. Previously he was the lead engineer for MasterCharge where he provided and managed a 24x7 high reliability on-line mainframe authorization system and its related front-end minicomputers and database.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Ruf worked on the deployment of the Army’s first on-line inventory control systems. Mr. Ruf holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from St. Louis University with graduate work in computer science and physics at Washington University.
